I’ve been around for quite a while now, seen the rise and fall of many, struggled to desire and desired to struggle some more, desired and struggled, endured and survived. Still a long road lies ahead and a long journey awaits. With you besides me, I can make the claim, raise the bar higher, and with you besides me, I can make it!
Like everybody I, too, have a story to tell. My Story
I was born in Lahore. I didn’t get to see much of Lahore with an eye of conscious. My family moved to Jeddah soon after my birth.
Except for one crystal clear incident I can barely recall my early years. The memory of this incident will remain forever etched because had it not been for this incident my life might have been totally different from what it is now.
Years ago when I was barely three or four, a popular classical song “Banwary Chakori” resung by one of our most popular pop artist Sajjad Ali was doing the rounds those days on both TV and radio caught my fancy. It had such a beguiling melody that young as I was I couldn’t help humming the tune.
A toddler trying to hum a classical song was, for my music loving family a source of endless delight. So much so that they paraded me in front of a prominent tabla maestro that very day. On listening to me humming that tune he was greatly astonished to see a mere three year old actually keep pace with the ‘tabla’ without skipping a beat and on a classical beat at that. Indeed he was so pleased that he gave me an Atari set as a prize!
It was only years later that I found out that the song “Bawry Chakori” had been composed by my grandfather – Rasheed Attre and it was a call given to me to follow the trail chosen by my ancestors. My Passion
As time passed, although I was busy with my studies and fun and games and all, I never lost sight of my life’s the greatest passion music. Later on when we shifted back to Pakistan I started proper training in vocals and guitars. I was imparted this training by my own father who had full faith in my abilities. As time passed my passion grew till one fateful day I realized that this is how I want to spend the rest of my life. Things started to take a clear shape in my mind, and I could see what I had to do with my life. I received my high school education from MQ foundation Shah Jamal. Then went on to join Govt. College (GC), Lahore Later on joined Punjab University for Masters. During my school and college life I used to sing more or less regularly at the events and contests held there. These events earned me my initial recognition and I was being asked to sing at different parties, weddings and shows. These were fun days but life took a more vogue turn when I started to get offers from different social and cultural organizations of local cities. That gave me more exposure to even more fans, and actually got my ball rolling because the audiences were from all over Abottabad etc.Punjab as well as the Northern areas. This was my first big break. I was now getting offers from places as diverse as Islamabad, Nathia Gali and My Future
It is during this time that I started work on my album in earnest and with the grace of God I released my first video ZAMANA NAZUK HAI. Which became a big source of popularity to me both nationally and internationally. And now music lovers can find my album on the shelves in all the music stores around the country.
After the success of ZAMANA NAZUK HAI & MAIN TERE NAAL NACHNA. Now I’m planning to give you another hit which I’m sure would make you jump out of your skin once again. Little by little I am achieving my place with all the sincerity and loyalty I have for my music. This could never have been possible if I didn’t have fans to support me. I thank you all and I sincerely hope that you would find my debut album worthy of your expectations. With love, Jimmy Attre |
